Wilderness Hunt

Species:  Elk, Mule Deer, Black Bear

Location:  Durango, Colorado (GMU 74)

Dates: Archery/Muzzleloader- September,   Rifle- October, November

Details: This is a classic rocky mountain wilderness hunt.  Horses are used to get in and out of camp, and also used daily while out on the hunt.  We hunt for legal bull elk, which in Colorado must have 4pts on at least one side.  This hunt has been up to 85% success, and a high percent of what we harvest most years are 6x6 bulls in the 260”-320” range.  Deer or bear hunting can be added at no additional charge, you just need to buy the tags.  You will stay in a large and spacious wall tented camp complete with a cook and all the facilities, that we believe makes it one of the best wilderness camps in the rockies.  This is a 7 day trip, with 5 total hunting days.    

Pricing: $6950 pp 2x1

License: Elk-$800, Deer-$402, Bear $102

Inclusions: Guide, horses, cook, food, in field transport, in field game care.

Exclusions: Airfare, gratuities, airport pickup ($50pp), game processing ($400), hunting licenses. 

Transportation: Drive or fly to Durango, Colorado

Hunt Style: This is a horseback hunt and should be considered a physically demanding hunt.  

Trip Requirements: Colorado requires you have a valid hunter safety card if born after 1949.  You must purchase hunting licenses, and wear a hunter orange hat and vest if rifle hunting.

Species: Elk, Mule Deer

Location: Durango, Colorado (GMU 75)

Dates:  September- Archery/Muzzleloader, Oct-Nov. Rifle

Details:  On this hunt we hunt over 15,000 acres of private land in southwest Colorado for elk and trophy class mule deer. Much of the private land we hunt is bordered by the Southern Ute Indian Reservation which does not allow non-tribal members to hunt.  This makes for exceptional quality in our mule deer and better than average quality in our elk.  We look for mule deer over 170”, and 5×5 or 6×6 elk. This hunt is not physically demanding, and we have taken many disabled hunters in years past.  This hunt is mostly done from a pickup or UTV, and is best conducted as a 2×1 hunt with your guide.  A 1×1 is possible for an extra fee.  

Pricing:  $8,500pp Elk or Deer, $12,500pp combo hunt 2×1.  $1000 extra for 1×1 guiding

License:  Elk- $800 Deer $402

Inclusions:  Guiding, private land access, Lodging, in field trophy care, airport pickup (Durango, Colorado).

Exclusions:  Meals, License's, Game Processing ($400), airfare, gratuities.

Transportation:  Drive or fly to Durango Colorado.  Airport pickup included.  The hunt is conducted from pickups/UTVs.

Hunt Style:  Spot and stalk, hunting blinds and stands.  Minimal Walking.

Eastern Plains Trophy Mule Deer

 

Species:  Mule Deer, Whitetail

Location:  Limon, Colorado (GMU 105/106)

Dates:  Nov-December

Details:  We hunt over 30,000 acres of exclusive leases in the plains of Eastern Colorado.  We take a limited amount of hunters and target quality mule deer bucks over 170”.  We hunt spot and stalk from pickup trucks, and this hunt is not very physically demanding.  Whitetail is also available and can be hunted by a second hunter to get a 2×1 price. This is a 5 day hunt.

Pricing:  $8500 mule deer 2×1, $4500 whitetail.  1×1 Guiding $1000 extra

License:  Deer $402

Inclusions:  Guiding, private land access,  Airport pickup (DIA), in field game care.

Exclusions:  Lodging (hotel), meals, game processing, airfare, gratuities.

Transportation:  Drive to Limon, Colorado, or fly to Denver, Colorado to be picked up by your guide.

Hunt Style:   Spot and stalk from a pickup, or tree stand hunting for whitetail hunters.

Horseback Do-It-Yourself

Details: This is a classic rocky mountain wilderness hunt.  Horses are used to get in and out of camp, and also used to pack out harvested game.  You can plan to  hunt for legal bull elk, which in Colorado must have 4pts on at least one side.   Typically hunters harvest mostly 6x6 bulls in the 260”-320” range.  Deer and bear hunting can be added at no additional charge, you just need to buy the tags.  You will stay in a large and spacious wall tent camp, complete with all the facilities that we believe makes it one of the best wilderness camps in the rockies.  A cook with knowledge of the area, and all food will be provided. This is typically a 7 day trip, with 5 total hunting days.  

Pricing:  $3,000pp. 2 person minimum

License: Elk-$800, Deer-$450, Bear $102

Inclusions: packing in and out of camp, packing of game, fully set up camp, firewood.

Exclusions:  Airfare, Gratuities, game processing ($400), hunting licenses, food, airport pickup ($50pp)

Transportation: Drive or fly to Durango, Colorado

Hunt Style:    Spot and stalk hunting, and it is done unguided on foot. Horses can be rented, at an additional fee.
